EVSC Good Schools Getting Better

Superintendent`s Message

On March 17, 2008, following 55 community and faculty/staff forums and dozens of meetings with citizens and community leaders, the EVSC Board of School Trustees unanimously approved a strategic plan to shape the future of the EVSC. Our vision will center on five core areas: professional development; early childhood education; technology; innovative school models; and family, school, and community partnerships. Our mission is to ensure equity and excellence for all children, and contribute positively to the economic growth of our community.

Although change is inherent in progressive organizations, my promise is that all decisions will be made in the best interest of children. We will approach our work with coherency, a sense of purpose, and with urgency. We will maintain a disciplined culture focused on improving student achievement and graduating all students with the 21st century skills necessary to compete in higher education and our global economy.

Many wonderful things are happening in our schools, but most acknowledge there are opportunities for us to advance to an unprecedented level of success. However, schools cannot succeed alone. Educating all children to high levels requires a community effort. We invite parents, business and community leaders, and others to respond to our call for action.

Our children and community expect and deserve high performing schools – together we will deliver on our promise.

Sincerely,

Vince M. Bertram, Ed.D.
