Ill Child/Seasonal Flu Information

Any virus can be spread easily from person to person so we, as a community, need to take some simple steps to reduce the spread of illnesses.

Here's what you can do to help:
•Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (60% or more alcohol).

•Do not share personal items like food, drinks, or utensils.

•Cover your coughs and sneezes by using a tissue or the inside of your elbow or sleeve.

•Know the signs and symptoms of the flu.
     •Fever of 100ºF or greater
     •Cough
     •Sore throat
     •Runny or stuffy nose
     •Body aches
     •Headache
     •Feeling very tired
•Vomiting or diarrhea may accompany the H1N1 virus.

Keep sick children home for at least 24 hours AFTER they no longer have fever WITHOUT using fever-reducing drugs.  This will reduce the number of people who get infected and is a good rule for adults to follow, too.

•Do not send children to school if they are sick.
•Please do not give your child a fever-reducing medicine and send them
to school.  They are still contagious.
•If your child has fever at night but does not have fever in the morning, they
are still considered sick.  Viral infections will produce a fever in the late
afternoon and into the evening.  The fever usually is gone in the morning, but
it reappears the next afternoon or evening.

We greatly appreciate your help with this matter!  Working together, we can help our children stay healthy!
