Our current session will end on May 11, 2012.  We are currently accepting applications for our session which will begin in mid July, 2012.

The EVSC Virtual Academy is designed to provide flexibility to students in EVSC  to earn credits for credit recovery or credit advancement through the utilization of online learning and the support of a licensed teacher.  Our brochure provides additonal information.  Students have earned 258 credits through coursework in Virtual Academy.

The EVSC Virtual Academy now also offers Advanced Placement courses in English, Social Studies, Science, and Math.  The AP courses are included on the Courses page.

The Evansville Vanderburgh Board of School Trustees approved on September 26 a monetary fee for students enrolling in the EVSC Virtual Academy to help offset the expense incurred by the EVSC for the software and personnel expenses.  The fee may be paid by check or money order at the enrollment conference.

The fee schedule for students currently in EVSC schools is as follows:

Students enrolled for credit recovery (to make up a course that they did not pass in school): $50 registration fee for a semester course.  Students enrolled in credit recovery classes that are conducted in the school as part of the student’s class schedule are still offered at no cost.

Students enrolled for credit advancement (such as early graduation)
: $50 registration fee, plus a $200 course fee for a semester course.

Students enrolled for grade replacement
(retaking a course for grade improvement): $50 registration fee, plus $200 course fee for a semester course.

Students enrolled because of schedule conflict (wanting to take a class that does not fit in their daily school schedule): $50 registration fee for a semester course.

Students not enrolled in EVSC $50 registration fee, plus a $200 course fee for all courses.

The Virtual Academy allows students to earn credits for recovery or advancement through the utilization of online learning. And, since its inception in June 2010, more than 300 students have taken online courses through Virtual Academy and 210 credits have been earned.

Courses are facilitated by EVSC licensed teachers utilizing content from Apex Learning, Inc. which offers a comprehensive digital curriculum that meets high school graduation requirements in math, science, English, social studies, world languages and selected electives. In addition, students and parents receive automated progress reports each week to communicate the progress of the student toward the course completion date.
