Welcome to Harper School!
Thanks for visiting Harper’s “Hornets’ Nest”.
Harper School is known for the diversity of our students. We are proud of the students at Harper and high expectations are set for each one of them. We believe all students can learn.
The focus of our curriculum is on the students’ learning. With the assistance of DIBELS (K-2) and Acuity (3-5) assessments we are able to monitor the progress of each of our students. The students are given assessments three times a year and after each assessment we are able to determine whether students have mastered the skills they have been taught. If the students don’t master a skill then they are given additional support on those skills.
Daily communication is used with our assignment books. Students are expected to use their assignment book and show it to their parents daily. This is a way for us to communicate with our parents. The teachers at Harper also have an extension on our new phone system so parents can contact them directly. Parents can call 812-435-8888 to access teacher's voicemail.
We are excited with the massive parental support we have. The Harper staff is thankful to the many volunteers we have. Harper has volunteers assisting in the classrooms, afterschool programs, and many other programs for our students.
Community partnerships have increased over the years. We are excited to have Methodist Temple, Girl Scouts, University of Evansville Theatre students, University of Southern Indiana foreign language students, Carver’s Experience Corps, Old National Bank, and parents offering services to our students.
The focus at Harper is on student learning and working to take students to “higher heights”.
