Opening EVSC classrooms to the world through technology is a strategic investment in student success. Under the EVSC technology initiative, the corporation is implementing a $10 million technology plan over the next three years that will touch every EVSC student, teacher, and staff member. The investment will not only be in equipment, but also in training to use the technology in order to enhance learning and to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Learning Equipment
Learning equipment being purchased by the EVSC includes:
- Interactive white boards
- Projectors
- Document cameras
- Computers
Systems Efficiency
The EVSC is conducting an analysis of systems efficiencies and student learning needs to determine what additional learning tools would most benefit students, faculty, and staff.
Communications System
The EVSC must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently within the corporation and with EVSC parents and community partners. Much-needed improvements to EVSC communications technology are incorporated into the Strategic Plan projects, including:
- Internet protocol wireless telephones in all classrooms
- Connect-ED provides multiple ways for the EVSC to communicate with families: traditional mail, voice mail, e-mail, and text messaging. This allows messages to be entered into the Connect-ED system and sent out instantly in whatever way families have requested.
Data Warehouse
The data warehouse allows the collection and analysis of data from across the EVSC, which can then be provided to teachers and administrators and used to evaluate programs, teaching methods, school models, student performance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
