Courses & Curriculum

The image shows a woman in a white coat assisting a young girl with what appears to be a science or chemistry-related activity in a classroom setting.

In the EVSC we strive for classrooms where students take charge of their learning, actively engage with content and utilize 21st Century skills.

Our goal is to prepare every student for success after high school and beyond. To that end, we offer a wide variety of rigorous courses and college and career-focused pathways to maximize the potential of all students.Exceptional education starts with exceptional educators.

It isn't just about offering rigorous courses, though; it's about having the right people to make that material meaningful and engaging. Families can feel confident knowing our classrooms are guided by fully licensed professionals, more than half of whom have earned advanced degrees. Because we believe that learning never stops, our educators continually engage in ongoing professional development to bring the latest, research-backed strategies directly to the classroom. Our experienced teachers combine this advanced academic expertise with a genuine, caring approach, carefully personalizing their instruction to ensure every single student is supported, challenged, and set up for lifelong success.

Weighted Grades

Encouraging Excellence

The EVSC utilizes a system of weighted grades to encourage students to enroll in the most rigorous academic courses in order to maximize preparation for their post-secondary education and career options.

  • Advanced Placement (AP) courses are on a 5.0 scale.
  • Most AP/CC are year-long courses, so students must take the full course to receive weight.
  • Students must take corresponding AP exams to receive the weight.
  • Concurrent college credit courses with EVSC approved final exams are on a 4.5 scale.
  • Weighted and unweighted GPAs are provided on transcripts.
  • Multiple credit courses are given weight for one credit per semester. The weight is given by course, not by credit.
  • EVSC no longer uses Class Rank.
